Académica en planta permanente de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud y del Núcleo de investigación en Producción Alimentaria UC Temuco. Por su formación académica y profesional posee un punto de vista interdisciplinario que se refleja en sus conocimientos y habilidades en las áreas de biotecnología y microbiología al servicio de la salud. Graduada en Nutrición Humana y Ciencia de los Alimentos en la Universitá di Napoli Federico II- Italia, es Dra. en Ciencias de Recursos Naturales doble titulación (Universitá Federico II di Napoli Italia- Universidad de la Frontera- Chile).

Su línea de investigación se enfoca en el eje One-Health y sustentabilidad, con atención a las interacciones positivas plantas-microorganismos, bacterias pro-tecnológicas y biotecnología de alimentos funcionales. Participó en varios proyectos de investigación, en su mayoría fundados por instituciones europeas o chilenas. Cooperó en varios proyectos europeos I+D en colaboración con empresas. Mantiene redes de cooperación internacional activas tanto en investigación como en docencia de pre y posgrado, con una fuerte orientación a la internacionalización del curriculum.
