PROFESOR TITULAR
Jaime Solano se interesa en las disciplinas de Botánica forense, Genotipificación, Recursos genéticos, Fitomejoramiento y Biología molecular. Gran parte de ellas han sido desarrolladas sobre el estudio de papas nativas de Chile, dada la condición de centro de origen y diversificación del cultivo. Por otra parte, han sido utilizadas en el resolver casos policiales a través de la Botánica Forense aplicada a la Investigación Policial.
Es integrante del Laboratorio de Biotecnología Vegetal y Recursos Genéticos del Departamento de Ciencias Agropecuarias y Acuícolas de la Facultad de Recursos Naturales de la Universidad Católica de Temuco. Dentro de las redes de colaboración destacas el Centro Nacional de la Papa en Remehue y el laboratorio de Criminalística de la Policía de Investigaciones de Chile, Región de La Araucanía. Internacionalmente, mantiene redes con el AgroParisTech de Francia y San Houston State University, de USA.
